Bob Kennedy Retires From Racing
Two-time Olympian to Focus on Business, New Twins and Wife's Run for Prosecutor
Bob Kennedy, 35, of Indianapolis is retiring from competitive road, cross-country and track racing. The Indianapolis Star has the story today from David Woods.:
Kennedy is an owner of two Indianapolis area specialty running shops. Simply called The Running Company, the stores are located in Broad Ripple and in Fishers at the I-69 interchange.
It is hard to underestimate Kennedy's contribution to the sport. It is best stated by the description in The Running Company website, "He is one of the best distance runners that the United States has ever seen." Kennedy was holder of the American record for 5,000 meters.

"I made a great living, traveled the world and met special people because I ran in circles quickly. And that's lucky."Kennedy ran for Indiana University in college. There, he met his wife, Melina, who was also a runner at I.U. She is the former Deputy Mayor of Indianapolis now running for the Democratic nomination for Prosecutor of Marion County.
